The Bridgeman Art Library is delighted to be appointed by the Estate of Mary Fedden, OBE and Julian Trevelyan, RA to administer and license the copyright in the artwork of both artists.

Mary Fedden, OBE
(14 August 1915 - 22 June 2012)

Mary Fedden trained at the Slade School of Fine Arts, London from 1932 to 1936. She is well known for her charming and colourful paintings of flowers and still lifes.

In 1951 Mary Fedden married the artist Julian Trevelyan who she had met before the war. They took a studio on the Thames River at Chiswick, where Fedden lived until her death last year. Together, Trevelyan and Fedden travelled and even collaborated on mural commissions.

The exhibition will be on display at ‘Depot.Kulturort’ from 7 June to 26 June and will be officially opened on Thursday 6 June at 19.00pm.

The local organization is Depot.Kulturort.

The big news of this edition is that we now have two sessions, and that the prize is higher:

Master Award: This session is open to all photographers, with no restriction of any kind. The prize will be of 5,000 Euros;

Time to apply for the Canon AFJ Award, which will be launched in Perpignan, on September 7!

The French Association des Femmes Journalistes (AFJ) and Canon France are launching, with Images Evidence, the thirteenth competition of the Canon Female Photojournalist Award granted by the Association des femmes Journalistes (AFJ).

This Award, with support of Le Figaro Magazine, is handed out every year during the Visa pour l’Image Festival in Perpignan (France). It is granted by Canon France and supports with 8000 Euros a woman photographer with a photojournalistic project. It is opened to professional women photojournalists of any age and nationality.

Inspiring, educating, and empowering the next generation of photographers

This is a terrific opportunity for emerging young photographers to work directly with industry professionals and gain valuable business skills needed to get their own photo careers started. We have mentors in 15 cities in the US and abroad. We are looking for photographers 18-29 years to apply for the program.

The theme is "hometown". “Hometown” refers to the location where you grew up, the place to which you feel the most connected, or that becomes your principal residence over time.

YPA is a charity that helps young photographers, aged 18-29, by providing them with the practical experience, industry knowledge, resources, and contacts in order to help them to build successful and sustainable careers. Our main focal activity is our Mentoring Programme.

ByTed VanCleaveThere are various ways of affording some form of protection to your images. As a professional photographer, I depend significantly upon my website to sell my images.

This is part for the course for many photographers and artists. But there's a dark side to free distribution: piracy is rampant. Unfortunately, it's easy for anyone with a computer to steal content-- but not so easy for the copyright owner to monitor unauthorized usage and recover lost income.

Joanna Smith passes away

Joanna Smith who was by the side of Cepic President Alan Smith [owner of picture library Topfoto] for the formative years of 1997 to 2009 and Chairman in the founding years of Bapla died peacefully on the 19 April 2013 aged 75 years. A private funeral was held on 1 May close to Joanna and Alan’s family home in Kent, UK.

ByWill Carleton 890 picture buyers registered in advance. 700 visitors throughout the day. Will Carleton from PhotoArchiveNews has given us permission to publish this impression about fotofringe London 2013.

Flora Nedelcu, organiser of fotofringe London: This, the third fotofringe day, looks like the best yet. 890 picture buyers/art buyers/designers registered in advance. On the day we had 700 people through the doors and found ourselves recycling the hand outs as people left – we had enough for our estimates but we ran out in the last 2 hours!
