The second edition of the Awards has been a huge success with more than twice the amount of images submitted last year from 226 photographers from 16 countries.

THE JURY

• Thomas R.  Kennedy: Executive Director of American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), this country’s leading trade association representing independent photographers working across commercial and editorial genres. He is an internationally known visual journalist with extensive print, broadcast, and online journalism experience, including positions Managing Editor for Multimedia at The Washington Post, and Director of Photography at the National Geographic Society. He has created, directed, and edited visual journalism projects that have earned Pulitzer Prizes, as well as EMMY, Peabody, and Edward R. Murrow awards.

• Michele Curel: President of the Professional Photographer’s Association of Spain (AFPEAmerican (native New Yorker) freelance photographer for more than 25 years based in Barcelona, Spain. Specialized in architecture, interiors, hotel, portrait and travel photography working for clients in Europe, Africa, Middle East and United States in the luxury hotel industry. As well as in the past prestegious U.S. Publications: Newsweek, The New York Times,Sports ilustrated, Business Week… www.michelecurel.com

• Siniša HančićPresident of the Croatian Press Photographers Association (a member society of Croatian Journalists Association) and Head of Manager of the Project for Protection of Copyright and Related Rights in STYRIA Croatia. Previously: CEO of PIXSELL, Picture Editor @ Večernji list and 24sata, Photojournalist.

• Joanna Zylinska is a writer, lecturer, artist and curator, working in the areas of new technologies and new media, ethics, photography and art. She is Professor of New Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is one of the Editors of Culture Machine, an international open-access journal of culture and theory, and a curator of its sister project, Photomediations MachineShe has recently co-edited Photomediations: An Open Book and Photomediations: A Reader as part of Europeana Space, a grant funded by the European Union’s ICT Policy Support Programme. Her current projects involve photographing media entanglements and writing a book on nonhuman photography for the MIT Press.

About the 2nd CEPIC Stock Photography Awards

The purpose of the CEPIC Stock Photography Awards is to support traditional stock photography and defend the right of photographers.

Submitted entries may be seen at www.cepic-photography-awards.com 

Members of CEPIC and professional photographers cooperating with them submitted their images in the following categories:

•  Cities, buildings, industry

•  Creative and abstract

•  Lifestyle and released people images

•  Nature, Science and Landscape

•  News, arts and sports

The entries, the judging and the jury:
The contest entries were judged online, with the four specialist juries choosing a shortlist of ten nominees.

The winner received 3000 € and a title of CEPIC Stock Photographer of the Year. Second and third place winners receive prizes of 1500 € and 500 €.
