Winners of Garment District Alliance Contest Will Win ImageRights Membership

NEW YORK – May 31, 2018 – The Garment District Alliance,in partnership with online art platform and collaborative community Orangenius, has announced a new global contest, inviting talented artists to submit their works for consideration in a unique public exhibition titled Art Elevated. All submissions are due by June 30, 2018. 

Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the exhibition will transform New York City streets and lampposts into an aerial art gallery displaying the works of more than 90 winners from Labor Day through October 31, 2018. Additionally, a first, second, and third prizewinner will win $1500, $1000, and $500 cash prizes, respectively. In addition, the first prizewinner will receive an ImageRights Ascent annual membership including three free USCO copyright registrations (a $588 value) and the 95 banner winners will receive an ImageRights Launch special six-month membership (a $175 value each).

The ninety selected banner finalists will receive a free one-year Orangenius Pro Membership in addition to their art being included in Art Elevated. Three of these finalists will also be selected to win the first, second, and third place cash prizes. The grand prize winner’s work will appear on numerous printed and online marketing materials for the Garment District Arts Festival taking place October 18th through October 20th.

A prominent panel of art jurors will determine the winners in late July and announce their selections in early August. To enter the competition, the application fee is $15, however, artists living or working in the Garment District will be able to provide one submission for free.

The two-month Art Elevated exhibition is expected to be viewed 21 million times, as New Yorkers and people from around the world are drawn to the Garment District as a destination for dining, retail and entertainment. The competition gives artists an opportunity to distinguish their art, en plein air, in a quintessential and authentic New York neighborhood.

The Garment District Alliance public art program brings world-class installations to the Garment District, attracting artists and art-lovers alike. With their annual Arts Festival, year-round art installations, and the many artists and galleries who call the district home, the Garment District has established itself as a center for culture and creativity.
