CEPIC spoke at the Public Hearing on Orphan Works on October 26, 2009. The hearing took place at the European Commission.

"The aim of this hearing is to gather further evidence on orphan works and how their digitisation and dissemination can best be managed in full respect of copyright rules. This hearing will be a follow-up to the
Green Paper on Copyright in the Knowledge Economy
(COM(2008) 466/3)."

"In the image industry, we see that we must work towards the best possible solution:
(a) make sure that any legislation will not in effect worsen the situation of a fragile creative industry, which has been fighting for years against decreasing prices while adapting to the new on-line environment.
(b) identify the opportunities brought about by new legislation in order to fight against bad crediting of pictures including (but not limited) to the internet."
