CEPIC member Copytrack (web crawler, image recognition and global enforcement of image rights) has carried out an extensive study on image rights infringements worldwide to be found here in ENGLISH and here in GERMAN.
Its main findings are:
- Of the three billion images shared online each day, around 85% are unlicensed ;
- North America is the most frequent offender with 34% of illegal image uses, followed by Europe with 31,40 %
- The USA is the top offender (22%), but China with ist billion population comes with a surprisingly small 6.5 %
- The most common size used for unlicensed images is 1920 x 1080 – full HD format.
