A LOOK BACK ON 2013
- On 8 November 2013 CEPIC submitted an antitrust claim for abuse of dominant posution against Google at the European Commission, joining 23 other complainants from across the travel, mapping, vertical search services and publishing industries.
- In December 2013, the coalition has substancially grown to include nine trade associations of the picture industry in Europe and the USA!
- Before that CEPIC had answered to the two market tests of Google’s proposals – in order to lift ranking discrimination on line.
- All along 2013, CEPIC participated in the Stakeholder Dialogue “Licenses for Europe” in two working groups: “User Generated Content” and “Print”
- Based on the results of “Licenses for Europe” an essential Copyright Consultation will take place in 2014 to assesswhether a refor of the EU copyright framework makes sense.
- CEPIC formulated a common statement on collective societies and had the opportunity to present it at a hearing at the European Parliament
- CEPIC joined Creativity Works!, a coalition of organisations representing the creative industries within Europe
- The RDI project, supported by the EU and by the Linked Content Coalition, started on 1. September 2013
- The 30-months ARROW PLUS project ends on 31. December 2013. Within this project CEPIC published, in collaboration with EVA, a 100-page Feasibility Study establishing a workflow in order to integrate the search of images in the ARROW database.
- CEPIC attended several meetings and fairs in 2013: IPTC Conference, paca international conference, visual connections, Frankfurt Bookfair, IFRA Exhibition in Berlin, microstock conference 2013 in Berlin etc.
- And then, of course, there was the CEPIC Congress 2013 Barcelona!
