Why this is good that Getty Images presented a complaint at the EU

It is very good that Getty Images, a private company and a very active CEPIC member in supporting our organization, presented a complaint to the EU because that act reinforces the same complaint that we presented time ago and that has been considered by the team of the European Commissioner for Competition headed by Mrs. Margrethe Vestager.

Their complaint follows similar points that CEPIC presented at the time and the good for Getty Images at this time is that they have the accumulated experience of having worked with CEPIC on the complaint we presented. They insist heavily on the competitive doctrine and this extremely good for the Commission to see that not only a European organization representing hundreds of right holders and hundreds of thousands of photographers like CEPIC has something  to complain about but a leader member of our organization shares the same principles that all of us in the images industry.

We have to realize that in many circumstances more is better than less and not precisely the contrary. If in our industry more companies could present complaints about the anti-competitive behavior of Google Images to the European Commission we will prove definitively that we are not just a group of isolated companies but a clearly defined industry ecosystem, where we all compete for resources but in the end we have to maintain an equilibrium to make the ecosystem a workable space where we all thrive and benefit from it.
