Yuliia Ovsiannikova is a Ukrainian photojournalist whose work captures the realities of war with deep commitment and artistic vision. Born in Melitopol in 1988, she transitioned from office work to photojournalism in 2016, joining Ukrinform to pursue her passion for visual storytelling. Her powerful images have been featured in The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, shedding light on the impact of the Russian invasion. At the onset of the full-scale war, she volunteered in Bucha before serving for a year as a press officer with a Territorial Defense Force unit. In 2023, she returned to Ukrinform, covering frontline stories with unflinching dedication. Ovsiannikova’s work has been showcased in exhibitions across Europe, including Brave Faces, a documentary project highlighting wounded Ukrainian soldiers, and The Inversion Project, a traveling exhibition supporting the Ukrainian Army. Her photographs serve as a testament to the resilience of the Ukrainian people, making her an essential voice in modern photojournalism.
