CEPIC and EANA partner up to strengthen image licensing and trust in visual journalism

The European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) and CEPIC (the Center of the Picture Industry) are proud to announce their renewed strategic partnership for 2025, reinforcing their shared commitment to safeguarding the integrity of visual journalism and ensuring fair licensing practices in the evolving media landscape.

This collaboration will be formally presented during CEPIC 2025 in Juan-les-Pins, the premier global event for image licensing professionals, taking place from the 12th to the 14th of May.

With the theme “The Future of Licensing”, CEPIC 2025 brings together leading experts from across the visual media industry, addressing the evolving challenges of image licensing, copyright protection, and the role of AI in content authenticity. EANA's support for the event means emphasizing the critical importance of image accuracy, journalistic integrity, and trustworthiness in today’s media ecosystem, through a keynote presentation from Éric Baradat, AFP’s Director for Photography, and a photo exhibition on the impact of war disinformation and the essential role of image verification in conflict reporting.

The partnership between EANA and CEPIC aims to strengthen industry standards for image licensing and copyright protection, while promoting best practices in image verification and authenticity, safeguarding public trust in visual journalism, and raising awareness of the importance of real, trustworthy photojournalism.

“During times when misinformation and disinformation spread faster than ever, the need for trustworthy, high-quality visual journalism has never been greater. Partnering with CEPIC allows us to work together to promote our industry's standards and protect the integrity of the images that shape public perception,” said Alexandru Giboi, Secretary General of EANA.

“Images hold immense power in shaping global narratives. By collaborating with EANA, we reinforce our commitment to promoting responsible image licensing and ensuring that visual content upholds the highest standards of authenticity and accuracy,” said Sylvie Fodor, Executive Director of CEPIC.
