DVP, the Society for Press Neighbouring Rights, announces the signing of its first agreement with Microsoft in application of the European directive that established a neighbouring right for publishers and press agencies in the digital single market.
This agreement concerns the Bing search engine.
The signing of this agreement is the culmination of several years of negotiation. Rights holders, publishers and press agencies represented by DVP will receive compensation for the use of the content they have produced and which has been displayed on the search engine between 2019 and 2024.
Jean-Marie Cavada, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DVP:
‘This agreement with Microsoft is an important step for the press rights holders who have joined DVP in recent years. Having regularised the past situation, we are now counting on Microsoft to continue its work with DVP to establish sustainable remuneration conditions in the near future."
