Veneta Bullen has worked in the media for over 30 years. She began training as a news journalist in a Fleet Street news bureau but preferred to work with photographers and photographs. The Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana was a turning point in her career as soon after that she moved to work on the picture desk of The Times newspaper.
Veneta has also worked on many main stream picture desks, assigning photographers to cover news and features, and researching, finding and editing images. In the 1980s Veneta diversified into exhibitions, advertising, magazine part-works and book publishing. She has worked with leading authors on award-winning projects and best sellers books
In 1999 the prestigious Italian fine art picture archive Scala invited Veneta to set up their London office, which she continued to manage until 2010. Veneta now combines her freelance picture consultancy work and her position as Chair of the Picture Research Association (PRA) of which she was a founder member. Veneta actively promotes and publicises the important role of picture researchers and strives for their recognition in the media industry.
