To mark its 18th anniversary, Envato has announced a significant rebrand, introducing a fresh new logo and sonic identity that reflect its commitment to energising and empowering creatives around the globe.
A Vibrant New Look
Founded in 2006, Envato has grown to become a key player in the creative asset marketplace, offering everything from stock photos and videos to graphic templates and code scripts. Recently acquired by Shutterstock, Envato’s rebrand comes as part of a broader strategy to enhance and strengthen its platform’s offerings.
The new identity centres on a redesigned logo that embodies the essence of creativity and dynamism. At its core is the “Creative Spark” symbol, representing the energy and innovation that Envato aims to inspire in its users. The logo also features a “Dynamic Dot,” which symbolises the unique contributions of individual creatives making their mark on the world.
Design Philosophy
The redesign was a collaborative effort involving Envato’s in-house team and its creative community. The new logo, inspired by the humble marker pen, is a nod to both Envato’s and its community’s creativity and passion. Kelsie Rimmer, author of the Envato blog, described the process: “We wanted our logo to reflect Envato’s upbeat, vibrant energy and commitment to the community while capturing the moment inspiration strikes. After extensive brainstorming and numerous designs, we arrived at a logo that we believe truly represents our brand.”
The company’s signature green has been reimagined into a bolder, brighter hue, complemented by new colours like Jalapeno, Soft Serve, and Dark Bubble Gum. This updated colour palette is designed to enhance the visual impact of the brand and resonate more strongly with its audience.
Sonic Identity and User Experience
In addition to the visual overhaul, Envato has introduced a custom sonic identity created in collaboration with New York-based composer K. Sparks. This new auditory element aims to further enrich the brand experience, providing an additional layer of engagement for users.
The rebrand extends to Envato’s website, which has been redesigned to offer an improved user experience and a more cohesive creative journey. Noelle Kim, Envato’s Chief Marketing Officer, explained the motivation behind the change: “We wanted to evolve our brand to capture the feeling we hope to evoke in our community every time they interact with us—a sense of energy and a drive to do things differently.”
A Milestone for Envato
As Envato celebrates this milestone, the rebrand represents more than just a visual update; it symbolizes the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting and inspiring creatives. The launch of the new identity is expected to further enhance the platform’s appeal and strengthen its role in the global creative community.
