Best Practices in Post Licensing

Post licensing has become a major source of income for photographers and picture agencies – up to 30% of their turnover for some.

Crawlers chasing copyright infringement are active in the market doing a tremendous job in tracking pirated visual online content. However, the same issues come up time and again. Clients are often irritated by being wrongly accused of copyright infringement. How does this happen? What is your experience with enforcement agencies?  What happens when rights are not exclusive? What happens when clients receive claims from a photographer for a picture they purchased via an agency representing this photographer? Is it OK to claim for images stolen 10-15 years ago? – How retrospective can a claim be?

We will discuss and look for solutions on March 4th at 17 H CET with a panel comprising enforcement crawlers, picture agencies and photographers. Some of the participants are listed here. More to come!

About PIXRAY:

PIXRAY is well known for their extremely strong picture tracking technology and their superb customer service. In Q2/2021 they are launching a game-changing product: With Fair Licensing (see http://fairlicensing.com) PIXRAY will give agencies full control of how they deal with copyright violations. Fair Licensing is a software platform that assists agencies in resolving copyright disputes by selling retroactive licenses. Website owners interact only with the agency. The settlement portal is in the agency’s look and feel, comes with the agency’s own logo and can be integrated with the agency’s website. Payments are made right to the agency. No third party involved. No middle-man. Full control of all communication at all times.
