RDI: Presentation to the EP IPR & Copyright Reform Working group

On 22 April 2015 Andrew Farrow presented the RDI project to the European Parliament IPR and Copyright Reform working group. Dominic Young from the Copyright Hub was also invited.

MEPs present were the chair of the Legal Affairs committee, Mr Svoboda, the chair of the IPR working group, Mr Cavada, MEP Reda, MEP Trüpel and MEP Stihler, the European Commission (Maria Martin Prat – Head of Unit Copyright and Philipp Runge, our project officer), the European Parliament Research and Study section.

Both presentations (RDI and the Hub) went well and triggered interest and will be posted on the European Parliament’s website in due course.

EDIMA, the European association representing platforms such as Google, Amazon, Netflix etc,  was also invited to presented (key points were on geoblocking and levies). They also expressed an interest in the project and we are likely to get an invitation to present to their members.

BEUC was also present at the meeting and like EDIMA, put forward its position on geo-blocking, levies and exceptions & limitations.

The RDI presentation has been uploaded to the RDI website’s “news” section with a short note, should you like to disseminate further to your network.
