Responsible Research and Innovation & Social Sciences and Humanities in H2020

Responsible Research and Innovation & Social Sciences and Humanities in H2020

Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) have to be taken on board in all areas of Horizon 2020.

On the one hand Research and innovation, funded by the EU, have to be responsible. This requirement has a very special intensity when it comes to ICT-related research and innovation. Indeed, the deployment of ICTs induces radical and pervasive changes in our lives in multiple ways that cannot be underestimated.

On the other hand embedding Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research across Horizon 2020 is essential to maximise the returns to society from investment in science and technology. Embedding means that SSH can make their contribution where they are most needed. Integrating the socio-economic dimension into the design, development and implementation of research itself, and of new technologies can help find solutions to societal issues.

Taking into account both cross-cutting issues of broad relevance, an Info day was organized on February 2nd in Brussels. In case you could not attend, the entire video recording of the event is now online. Slides from the presentations that were given throughout the afternoon were also posted, along with some other documents might be useful. All of these can be accessed here.

Regarding the workshop on RRI-SSH in the upcoming Work Programme 2016-17, video recordings of the opening and closing plenaries will shortly be uploaded. Notes have been taken at each session, which are also posted online, as well as the PPT presentations from the opening plenary. These can be accessed here.
