Tomas Stargardter has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA Images) as of November 26, 2024. With over 30 years of experience in photojournalism and editorial leadership, Stargardter brings a wealth of expertise, having previously worked with The Associated Press and Agence France-Presse. In his new role, Stargardter aims to uphold EPA Images' mission of delivering impactful visual content and fostering innovation in global visual journalism.

On 5th November photograoher Robert Kneschke has lodged an appeal against the decision of the Regional Court of Hamburg in favour of LAION e.V. . The Court unexpectedly exempted LAION e.V. from copyright for images used for training the LAION-5-B dataset. CEPIC supports Robert Kneschke in his copyright lawsuit against LAION and welcomes the appeal. Read why here.

German photographer Robert Kneschke recently announced that his lawsuit against LAION e.V. was dismissed by the Hamburg Regional Court. The court cited the limitation provision of Section 60d UrhG, stating that the activities of LAION’s members who also pursue paid work with companies profiting from the LAION dataset cannot be attributed to the association itself.
