POLICY ISSUES
CEPIC is involved in IP negotiations at European and international level and in technological standardisation in the visual field.
Current issues include
EU copyright harmonization and reform on the Digital Single Market, competition online, image search engines and the closing of the “framing loophole”, reform of collective rights management, respect of metadata, standardisation of image works identifiers.

IPTC tests how well inexpensive software performs in tagging images with rights information
People return from their holidays with many photos and want to share them, others want to use such shared photos. To help them find the right software for embedding their own rights data into an image file or to retrieve them from a photo by a potential user, IPTC has tested 19 free or inexpensive programs. CEPIC (Centre of the Picture Industry) and EANA (European News Agency Alliance) have announced that EANA is joining the CEPIC coalition for an antitrust complaint at the EU Commission against Google’s unlicensed use of third party pictures.
