Jean-Marie Cavada will be speaking at the conference Comment concilier le marché et la création? Making Media and Images Financially Sustainable? On Wednesday, June 5th at 10:00 to 11:45. 

First a journalist, then News Director of several television channels, Jean-Marie Cavada specialized in news magazines (see: the march of a century for 13 years), before becoming founding President of France 5, President of RFO and Radio-France.

In 2004, Jean-Marie Cavada resigned from the presidency of Radio France to lead the UDF list in the “Sud-Ouest” district during the European election. His career also shows a great commitment to Europe. An ALDE MEP in 2004, he was Vice-Chairman of the Committee on International Trade until 2005 and then chaired the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs until 2008. In 2009, the New Centre appointed him as lead partner for the European elections in the Île-de-France district. He was re-elected on June 7, 2009. Jean-Marie Cavada then took over the presidency of the New Centre delegation within the EPP, and the vice-presidency of the French delegation within the EPP. He is a member of the Culture and Education Committee, an alternate member of the Legal Affairs Committee and Chairman of the MEDIA Intergroup.

Re-elected in 2014 in the Ile-de-France constituency, Jean-Marie Cavada is currently vice-president of the Legal Affairs Committee and coordinator of the same committee for the ALDE group. He is also an alternate in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs. Since the end of 2014, he has been head of the Working Group on Copyright in the European Parliament. From 2011 to 2016, he was President of the European Movement – France, an association that brings together, beyond their political affiliation, men, women and associations committed to the construction of a united and political Europe. He is President of Generation Citoyens.
