EANA joins global coalition against Google Images

CEPIC (Centre of the Picture Industry) and EANA (European News Agency Alliance) have announced that EANA is joining the CEPIC coalition for an antitrust complaint at the EU Commission against Google’s unlicensed use of third party pictures.

GOOGLE Deal : Almunia criticized by fellow Commissioners

It appears that at the meeting of Commissioners on Tuesday 11 February, 9 commissioners out of 27 opposed the deal passed between VP Almunia and Google. Opposing Commissioners include Michel Barnier (France), Günther Oettinger (Germany) and Vivianne Reding (Luxembourg).

On 8 November 2013 CEPIC supported by a large coalition of trade associtions in Europe and the USA lodged a claim for abuse of dominant position against Google at the European Commission. The coalition is now growing.

Brussels, 13 November 2013. On behalf of thousands of photographers and picture agencies CEPIC, the Center of the Picture Industry, submitted a formal antitrust complaint against Google’s use of third-party images before the European Commission.
